PRESS RELEASE – MISINFORMATION ABOUT GHANA INDUSTRIAL & COMMERCIAL ESTATES LIMITED (GICEL)
It has come to the attention of Management of GICEL that some people are misinforming its tenants that a court has asked them not to pay rent. This is absolute false.
The issue is that a section of the tenants has taken the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) & GICEL to court claiming that per an alleged agreement with SSNIT, the Estate is to become theirs after a number of years. SSNIT has vehemently denied any such agreement but the court is yet to make any determination on the claim.
Until the court gives its judgment of the said case, the status quo remains and tenants are bound to abide by the terms of the Tenancy Agreements with GICEL.
All tenants are therefore hereby informed that they are obliged to continue discharging their individual contractual obligations of payment of rent to GICEL.
We wish to remind the tenants that any of them who default on rent payment for three (3) months or more will be ejected through any legal means.
Issued by GICEL Management.
